She slept on the cold stone bench in front of the courthouse,

Covered by a newspaper quilt.

Once she had laughter and hope.

He was a decorated soldier in the war.

In a cardboard home

He listened to the rain falling and remembered with pain

A lost life with wife and children.

All work is property of Barbara Panos.
