Indifference?

 

She slept on the cold stone bench in front of the courthouse,

Covered by a newspaper quilt.

Once she had laughter and hope.

 

He was a decorated soldier in the war.

In a cardboard home

He listened to the rain falling and remembered with pain

A lost life with wife and children.
