Fanny Fern aka Sara Willis (1811 - 1872)

Nathaniel Hawthorne commented that Fanny Fern stood out from the "damned mob of scribbling women" of her day.  She ended up as one of the best earners in writing in the 1800s.  Fern displays great wit and insight in her wonderful work.
