FREEDOM OF THE PRESS

The earth was swallowed by a story

which dropped like a flame in the sky

and burst into celestial strain

over the field of rye where Holden

kept the children from falling.

The ink roared red

and J.D.'s book and God's

were both burned

because there was no room for them

at the inn of tiny minds

and Adolph and Josef both

warmed themselves by the fire.
