(from) almost a haiku

yellow helmets
on top of green uniforms
lining the road

- peace keepers

turning fourteen
- a stoned girl lights a candle
under a trembling town bridge

a kiss was long and warm
afterwards: a brief scream of a car engine
breaking the silence of the dawn

arriving home after work:
children fell asleep
in the quietness of the chat rooms

a lucky country, how fortunate
i am to be here: the sprinklers
from the backyard of a neighbour's villa
water my roses over the fence
